My 3-Night Minimum Rule
I have a personal rule:
If I can avoid it, I don’t travel anywhere for fewer than three nights.
That’s not a vacation. That’s a logistics exercise.
Night one is arrival.
Night two is orientation.
Night three is when you finally relax.
Anything shorter and you spend more time adjusting than enjoying. Also hotels reward longer stays. Less room turnover. More time to personalize your experience.
It’s one of the simplest ways to improve almost any itinerary:
fewer stops
longer stays
better meals
less packing (best less packing hack is river cruising)
more actual vacation
Trips don’t feel luxurious because of star ratings.
They feel luxurious because of pacing. Take your time and allow yourself to enjoy the fruits of your labor.
